The whole earth is filled with awe at your wonders; where morning dawns, where evening fades, you call forth songs of joy.

In case you didn’t know it by now, mornings are my favorite part of the day. One of the best gifts of retirement is the ability to savor the morning. Gone are the days when I had to hit the floor running, my mind racing through my to-do list for the day. I still have a to-do list, but I am grateful that I can forestall that list for awhile and ease into the day.
By habit, my husband and I rise early and hit the gym, not because we are thrilled about that early morning alarm, but because we can get our daily exercise regimen over with and get on with our day. We typically walk outside after returning from the gym, allowing me to witness the breaking dawn while I get my cardio-steps in.
Not only is it delightful to walk outside in that early morning light, an even bigger reward awaits me upon my return home. It’s my breakfast blessing on my front porch! Hot tea and yogurt in hand, I open my front door and find myself transported to the wonderland of God’s morning majesty. On sunny days, the porch is bathed in a marvelous glow of golden light. Finding a cozy seat in my glider surrounded by the bright blooms of my flowers, I can’t help but smile. It’s simply glorious!
I’m not the only one who relishes this beautiful time of day. The trees around me are full of life, a coo here, a call there, the flutter of tiny wings. The calls grow louder with each passing moment, the birds blending their voices into a song of celebration. Like me, they seem to marvel at the colors cascading across the sky. Like me, they can’t help but sing a song of joy, a hymn of praise. Like me, their souls overflow with gratitude for the gracious gift of another new day.
Meet me in the morning, Lord,
Meet me in the light of the dawn.
Let the sun find my face,
Touch me with Your radiant glow.
Fill my ears with the music of the birds,
Flood my soul with the symphony of their song.
Let the colors collide before my eyes,
Let the heavens declare Your glory.
Meet me in the morning, Lord,
Surround me with Your unfailing love.
Shine Your light on me all my days,
Lead me in the way everlasting.-

PRAYER
O God of Grace and Glory, meet us where we are this morning. Fill Our hearts with YOUR Peace thaT passes all understanding. Shine Your light on us and flood our souls with joy. Let every sunrise remind us of the resurrection of Your Son Jesus Christ. May every new morning offer a fresh opportunity to sing of Your amazing grace.
