MM 10-5-2026 Passing Peacefully
Friends
For those of you that have not heard, I wanted to share that my much beloved father, COL Joe W. Peden, took his final journey home to be with our Lord on Sunday, September 20th at 1:30AM. He passed peacefully with my mother, Eric, and me at his side holding his hands.
Over the years, I have written so many stories about my precious Daddy, so you all know how close we were all my life. I am forever grateful for all the wonderful moments we spent together and for all the lessons he taught me.
My father was a man of great faith, and so I know full well that he is at peace today, and with our Lord. No more heart failure, no more Parkinson’s, no more struggles. He is free. Praise The Lord!
Last Tuesday, September 29th, we held a funeral in Fountain Inn, SC at the historic Fairview Presbyterian Church founded by my family 240 years ago. With full military honors, we laid my father to rest in the church cemetery beside his ancestors that date back to the Revolutionary War. It was a touching service that honored my father’s faithful life of service to his family, his country, and his Lord.
Tomorrow, we will have another opportunity for remembrance as we gather with staff, residents, and community friends for a memorial service in the chapel at the Twin Lakes Community in Burlington, NC where my parents have lived since last December. Below is the link to my father’s obituary`.
I want to thank all of you for your support and prayers over this past year as my father struggled with his health issues. Your kindness and concern have meant the world to me during this challenging season of my life. I appreciate your continued prayers as we navigate the days to come.
Giving thanks today for your support, love, and prayers.
Blessings,
Anita
