Friends
On this Memorial Day, let us remember the fallen, the brave military service men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. We owe them a great debt of gratitude for their bravery, commitment and sacrifice. May we not forget that each of those lost on the battlefields were someone’s beloved husband, wife, father, mother, son or daughter. Let us pause and remember the loved ones left behind, knowing that their loss lingers. Despite the days or decades that may have passed, there is still a hole in their hearts, a hole that can never be completely sealed. May we also remember all those who are reeling from tragedy, suffering from disease and injury, and hurting from the heartaches of life. Let us keep them close in our prayers today.

The Lord is my light and my salvation — whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?
Psalm 27:1 – NIV
There is so much tragedy in this world. There is so much sorrow. We feel it. We fear it. We know it, deep within our bones. How do we live through it? How do we find healing for our hurts? How do we overcome?
Overcoming
When hardships haunt,
When perils pursue,
I will overcome,,
You will see me through.
I will stand on Your promises,
Trust in Your plan,
Rest in Your Presence,
Cling to Your Hand.
Searching Your Word,
I seek Your face,
Remembering Your faithfulness,
Abiding in Your grace.
Enduring the trials,
Holding Your hand,
I will overcome,
In You, I stand.

I am counting on the Lord; yes, I am counting on him. I have put my hope in his word.
Psalm 130:5 – NLT
PRAYER
O father, our hearts break with the troubles of this world. We see heartache at every turn. Sorrow rains heavy on our souls. The hardships of this life weigh down on us, dampening our spirits, washing away our joy. Our hearts break for those who are suffering the loss of precious loved ones to battle, accident, injury and senseless violence. We see those suffering from illness and incurable disease, and we sigh in despair. Our souls cry out, “Why does it have to be this way?” Still, our hope lies in You. We may be hard pressed on every side, but we are not crushed, because You, Lord, are with us. You are with us and for us. You will never leave us nor forsake us. We can count on You. We can stand on Your promises. We can trust in Your faithfulness. We can abide in Your Grace. You may not save us from the struggles, but You will stand with us. You will see us through. This life is not all there is. There is an eternity of perfection with You. And until that day, we will put our hope in You. In You, we will overcome.
In the Mighty Name of Jesus, we pray,
Amen
Blessings,
Anita
