Monday Motivation: Morning Song

Friends

What’s your favorite time of day? Can you guess what part of the day I like best?

+++

The whole earth is filled with awe at your wonders; where morning dawns, where evening fades, you call forth songs of joy.

Psalm 65:8 – NIV

In case you didn’t know it by now, mornings are my favorite part of the day, and RV life is one of the best ways to experience the majesty of the morning. Simply wake up early, grab the camper door handle and pull. Three quick steps down the stairs, and I am there, ready and waiting to experience God’s daily gift to us, the start of a new day..

Since mornings for me are best spent rocking and reflecting, I needed a travel ready rocker, and I found one in my camper rocking chair. It’s lightweight, easy to set up as well as collapse. The pistons on the back legs allow for its perfect rocking motion. As an added bonus, it’s red, my favorite color!

As we travel around the country in our little RV, I treasure the mornings I manage to wake up early enough to catch the sunrise.

 It’s so peaceful in the semi-darkness. A reverent hush blankets the landscape around me.  I try to maintain the quiet as I set up my camper rocker and retrieve my hot tea from the kitchen counter. Depending on the location and time of year, sometimes I add a blanket to my sky watching preparations, but once seated and properly positioned for the best view, I’m ready to sip and savor, rock and reflect.

I’m not the only one either. The birds are getting ready too. I can hear them fluttering about in the trees, their voices still timid. Just a coo here, and a call there. But as the glow on the horizon intensifies, so does their excitement. Their calls grow louder with each passing moment blending their voices into a song of celebration. Like me, they seem to marvel at the  colors cascading across the sky. Like me, they can’t help but sing a song of joy, a hymn of praise.

Meet me in the morning, Lord,

Meet me in the light of the dawn.

Let the sun find my face,

Touch me with Your radiant glow.

Fill my ears with the music of the birds,

Flood my soul with the symphony of their song.

Let the colors collide before my eyes,

Let the heavens declare Your glory.

Meet me in the morning, Lord,

Surround me with Your unfailing love.

Shine Your light on me all my days,

Lead me in the way everlasting.-

Friends, will you let God meet you this morning? May His golden light find your face, and fill your heart with joy.

+++

Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.

Psalm 90:14 -NIV

  1. Hello Anita,

    We met just about exactly a year ago in Capitol Reef Campground, one of my favorite places in the world. I have been appreciating your Monday emails ever since and just wanted to take a minute to say thanks. You have a true gift. We didn’t make it to Utah this year, since we just got back from a big trip we rescheduled from last year, but I am missing that campground and the beautiful red rocks! Your emails are a welcome reminder each week. Thanks again and take care,

    Jane

    1. Oh, I am so thrilled to hear from you, and so very honored that you have been following my posts this past year! Wow! What a lovely time we had last year staring at those amazing red rocks in Capitol Reef National Park! I wish I was there right now! So glad to hear you are still traveling and that you got in touch! Our very best to you both! Blessings, Anita
