Monday Motivation: God Alone

Friends

In this new year, are you yearning for more? Does your life feel empty? Meaningless? Are you worn out and weary?

We all struggle with these feelings from time to time. The cries of our culture nurture a sense of dissatisfaction. When our eyes are focused on the things of this world, we grow resentful and bitter.

As we begin yet another year, let us place our trust and hope in the only One who can give us more.

Yet when I surveyed all that my hands had done and what I had toiled to achieve, everything was meaningless, a chasing after the wind; nothing was gained under the sun.

Ecclesiastes 2:11 – NIV

More

New life,

From the first cry,

The endless quest begins,

More.

I want more.

Milk,

Sleep, touch, love,

Cries never cease,

More.

Toys,

Bright red bike,

Come play with me,

More.

Teen drama,

Asleep till noon,

What’s for dinner?

More.

High school,

Boy meets girl,

Will he ask me out?

More.

Diamond,

She said “Yes!”

Wedding to plan,

More.

He’s everything,

She’s my world,

Plans for the future,

More.

Crib,

Diapers,

Midnight feedings,

More.

Bills,

Doctor visits,

Price went up,

More.

Deadlines,

Long hours,

Need that promotion,

More.

Pressure,

He’s never home,

She’s never happy,

More.

He got the girl,

She found her man,

But it wasn’t enough,

More.

Stuff,

House, car, trip,

The next thing,

More.

Pills,

Bottle, cards, bed,

Aching, thirsty, needing,

More.

Deep down,

Never satisfied,

Desperate, miserable, wanting,

More.

Only one place,

Only one answer,

Still, we run away, seeking,

More.

See Him there,

But dare not go,

Doubts, fears, excuses,

More.

Finally,

At the end of things,

More can only be found,

In God.

He alone is More.

Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me.

Isaiah 46:9 – NIV

PRAYER

Precious Lord, You are More. You are all we need. Your goodness, Your glory, Your grace are more than enough. In You alone, we find our rest. Help us trust in Your great faithfulness and be satisfied by Your unending love.

In the Marvelous Name of Jesus, we give thanks and praise,

Amen
