Monday Motivation: Everlasting

Friends

My kitchen is still a mess, but I choose to live blessed. The floor will get fixed eventually, and in the meantime, I am standing on His promises.

+++

But from everlasting to everlasting the Lord’s love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children’s children

Psalm 103:17 – NIV

I seem to be having issues with water. Not only did the refrigerator malfunction and leak water all over the place, but the shower in the camper also decided to leak last week. The seal for the shower drain cracked, causing a little trickle of water to crawl across the camper floor. Fortunately, it’s a relatively easy fix. However, it makes me shake my head in exasperation, because we have only had the camper for six months.

We got the report from the refrigerator repairman. That pesky refrigerator had a malfunction in its electronic panel causing the ice maker to cycle on continuously. This forced the mounting water to either freeze or leak out onto the floor. A third of the kitchen floor is now stripped down to the subfloor, thanks to this defective appliance.

I am reminded of a truth. Things don’t last. Showers leak. Refrigerators break. Batteries fail. Shingles fly off in storms.

Even our bodies are subject to malfunction. Clots form. Hearts fail. Cancer strikes. We can eat healthy, exercise regularly and brush our teeth after each meal. Still, we can end up with a heart attack or a broken tooth.

The things of this world don’t last, but God does. He was there in the beginning of this world, and He will be there at the end. He was with us at our birth. He will be with us at our death, and He is with us at all points in between.

Again and again, God’s Word promises His Everlasting Presence, His unfailing love. Let’s take a look at some of these promises.

Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.

Isaiah 40:28 – NIV

“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”

Revelation 1:8 – NIV

I will establish my covenant as an everlasting covenant between me and you and your descendants after you for the generations to come, to be your God and the God of your descendants after you.

Genesis 17:7 – NIV

I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.

Revelation 22:13 – NIV

From everlasting to everlasting, from beginning to end, God’s love never fails. He is with us always, even when we suffer, even when we hurt. He knows our sorrows, our frustrations, our fears. Nothing surprises Him. Nothing is beyond His control. He can take the hard things of this life and work them together into a pattern for good.

Things don’t last, but God does. We may be broken. Our parts may wear out, but God remains the same. His faithfulness endures forever. His love is everlasting.

Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures through all generations. The Lord is trustworthy in all he promises and faithful in all he does.

Psalm 145:13 – NIV

PRAYER

O Lord God Almighty, Great is Your faithfulness. It endures from everlasting to everlasting. Your love never fails. You are with us always, even to the end of the age. Praise The Lord! Praise Your Holy Name!

In the Everlasting Name of Jesus, we pray,

Amen

Blessings,

Anita

  1. Anita, it’s always a good reminder to know that these things happen all the time to almost everyone . We can count on things to break and life to happen. I think sometimes we forget that living an Instagram life is not the norm. Praise to you for a great word.

    1. Thanks Denise! Yes, it is easy to get caught up in glossy Facebook images and then be surprised when life throws us curveballs. But when we know The Lord, we don’t have to shoulder those curveballs alone! Blessings!
