Monday Motivation: Erasers

Friends

Summer is drawing to a close. School is starting once again. A new year, full of new beginnings. Let’s you and I begin anew today, rejoicing in the assurance of God’s amazing love for us.

How priceless is your unfailing love, O God! People take refuge in the shadow of your wings.

Psalm 36:7 – NIV

It’s back to school time. Students are sporting their new backpacks stuffed with shiny, fresh school supplies. Teachers are preparing their classrooms, writing their class rules on their nice, clean smart boards. In my day, they were chalk boards, but then technology has progressed, has it not?

I wonder. How many notes did I copy off those old black boards? How many equations did I scribe onto my notebook paper so that I could solve their mystery? All that work for the teacher to write the notes and me to copy them, and then, at the end of the day, the board would be erased, wiped clean, ready for another day’s work. Returning the next morning, all evidence of yesterday’s assignments was gone, wiped clean, vanished without a trace.

All that guidance, all that knowledge, all that undertaking gone, non-existent. It had been erased. Here today, gone tomorrow. Vanished, without a trace.

Yet, there is one thing that can never be erased. It can never be wiped away. Never, no matter what.

Nothing can erase the love of God from my life.

Fear can assail me. Disappointment can dampen my spirits. Worry can weigh me down. Doubts can plague me. Adversity can overwhelm me. Affliction can steal my joy. But nothing, nothing can erase the love of God from my life.

His love rises with me as morning dawns, lies down with me when evening falls. His love surrounds me on the mountaintop, sets my spirits to soar on wings of eagles. His love envelops me as I struggle in the deep pit of self pity.

His love goes before me, It trails behind me. His love is alive in the flowers, the trees, the birdsong, the breeze. His love is always with me. It never leaves.

It is we who wander. It is we who turn away. We choose to worry. We allow fear to take a foothold in our minds. We doubt, and sin, and struggle in the pits of our own making. But God never leaves us.

He waits. God waits for us to glance His way. He waits for us to bow our heads in prayer. He waits for us to cry out for help. God waits for us to worship Him, to honor Him, to give Him all the glory.

I can run forever and not be free of His love. It is limitless, overarching, unfailing, unending. I am His child. Whether I live that way or not, He still loves me.

Friends, bask in the warmth of His love today. Rest assured that nothing in all the earth can separate you from His great love. Nothing in your past, nothing in your future can stop Him from loving you. He has called you His own and He will not stop loving you no matter how you choose to live this day.

Let’s live loved. Let’s embrace the love of God today and let it change everything. Let it shape our minds and change our hearts that we might act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly, hand in hand, with our God through whatever lies ahead.

For I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from his love. Death can’t, and life can’t. The angels won’t, and all the powers of hell itself cannot keep God’s love away. Our fears for today, our worries about tomorrow, or where we are—high above the sky, or in the deepest ocean—nothing will ever be able to separate us from the love of God demonstrated by our Lord Jesus Christ when he died for us.

Romans 8:38-39 – TLB

PRAYER

O Lord God Almighty, we praise You for Your unfailing love. Nothing can change it, nothing can erase it. By the grace of Jesus Christ, nothing can ever separate us from Your great love. Oh, let us rest in that. Let us rejoice in that. Let us live loved and honor You in all we do.

In the Gracious Name of Jesus, we pray,

Amen

Blessings,

Anita
