Friends
On this stretch of rainy days, I have been doing some front porch sitting. Just taking time to rock and reflect, to feel the coolness of the air and watch it rain. Let the rain remind You of God’s limitless love for you this day.

He covers the sky with clouds; he supplies the earth with rain and makes grass grow on the hills.
Psalm 147:8 – NIV
I think my love of front porch sitting is genetic. I inherited it from my grandfather. If Grand was not working or watching TV, you would find him on either the front or back porch. He could sit for hours staring out at the fields, watching the clouds float by, listening to the rustle of the leaves stirred by the gentle breeze. I, too, can sit on the front porch for hours, just rocking, looking, listening.
Grand loved to watch it rain. A farmer by trade, he knew the value of a well timed rain. He would lean back in his chair, cane in hand, tapping the cement floor as if to keep time with the rain drops. He could sit quietly for hours, just watching it rain.
In the past few days, I have had plenty of opportunities to watch it rain. Rocking in my glider on the front porch, I have been listening to the steady beat of the rain, observing the clouds as they change from light gray to dark. I have noticed the birds chirp on in the misting rain, yet, grow quiet as the rain becomes steady. The air seems to cool a bit as the rain moves in, sending a little breeze to flow over the porch.
The rain has poured forth from the heavens, steady, unrelenting, as if designed to quench an insatiable thirst. The rain reminds me of God’s unrelenting love for us. His love flows down from heaven, washing over us, seeking to quench the insatiable thirst of our souls. His love rains down, delivering His gift of Living Water, that we may thirst no more. Oh, how we need that kind of water. Oh, how we need that kind of love.
It is a love undeserved, a love unconditional, a love unimaginable. In our humanness, we cannot fathom the breadth of that love. We love our spouses, our children, with deep, abiding love. Yet, even the depth of that kind of love pales in comparison to the vastness of God’s love for us. For it is a love that sees us clearly, knowing the impurity and selfishness of our thoughts, conscious of our faults and failures. Fully aware of all our iniquity, God chooses to love us anyway. It is a love beyond comprehension, a love beyond comparison.
Let the rain drops remind us of His unceasing love. Let His love wash over us, refreshing, renewing, restoring our troubled hearts. Let His love rain down and may we lift up our hands, feel the dampness of its glistening beauty, and give Him thanks.

The Lord delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love.
Psalm 147:11 – NIV
PRAYER
O Father, let Your love rain down. Let it wash over us. Let it lift our hearts, restore our souls. May our eyes search the heavens, remembering Your faithfulness, giving thanks for Your blessings. May the rain of Your love provide the Living Water that will see us through the storms of this life.
In the Loving Name of Jesus, we pray,
Amen
Blessings,
Anita
