Monday Motivation: The List

Friends,

Holy Week is upon us. As we waved our palm branches yesterday morning remembering Jesus’ triumphant welcome into Jerusalem, I thought about the rollercoaster of emotions our Lord must have felt. There He was rejoicing with His people, knowing full well that the cross awaited Him only days later. Still, He did not turn away from the coming suffering. Why? Because of love, His unfailing love for us. It is a love so great that He would endure the cross so that you and I might be redeemed.

On this Monday morning, I share one of my poems with you. It reminds me of the depth of God’s love for us. Let us marvel over His amazing, unfailing, never-ending love. May we never forget the precious gift of the cross

BODY & SOUL

“On a hill far away, stood an old rugged cross…”

The List

Plain white paper.
Dark black ink.
The list.

A very long list.
Faults.
Failures.
Forsaken vows.
My sin.

Simply written.
Just lying there.
Flapping in the breeze.

Heart pounding.
Oh, let no one see.
The list.

My shame.
My sorrow.
My regret.
All on the list.

The plain white paper.
Now laid upon the wood.
A weathered hand.
Palm up.
Fingers outstretched.
Hiding the list.

Brace for impact.
Hammer meets nail.
Pierced flesh.
Blood flows.
Over the list.

Nailed to the cross.
Washed by His blood.
The list is no more.
All is forgiven.

No more lists.
I am forgiven.
So are you.

He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in him. – Psalm 40:2-3

PRAYER

O Jesus, thank you. Thank you for taking our sin, covering it with Your blood, and washing it away forever. We are cleansed by Your grace and overwhelmed by Your love. Because of You, we have hope. All hail the power of Jesus’ Name! Hallelujah!

In Your precious and Holy Name, we pray,
Amen

Easter Blessings,
Anita
